Biting. It is something that will happen to your child when you put them in daycare. The first time it happened to Seth, he was in the infant room. He got bitten by a child in the toddler class and we had to sign paperwork saying we were told he was bitten. Of course they cannot say who did the biting. Fast forward to Seth being in the toddler class. I remember a span of time where he was bitten 3 times in 10 days time. Rob and I were livid. I went in and talked to the director and I told her that obviously there were some supervision issues. Of course, she took offense to that and spoke highly of her staff. I in turn told her that my child was no chew toy and to just remember this was a learned behavior on behalf of the daycare. I just prayed that my child would not bite other children as a retaliation. He did bite someone in his class that year, and we talked about it and he said he would not do it anymore. "NO BITING." Seth is now in the Preschool I class and a couple of weeks ago we were undressing him for bath and we saw a bite mark on his arm. (After many experiences with bites, you learn how they look.) We had not signed any paperwork that day nor had we been told he had been bitten. Seth knew who bit him and he told us. We told him that if anyone ever bit him, he needed to tell his teacher. This week, Seth did the biting. I think he did it out of frustration. In fact, he told me that the child he bit hurt his feelings. We had another talk and he is aware now of the consequences he will receive if he does bite again. "I not bite anymore."
Today was a better day, no biting children, but he did eat glue.....

Happy New Year!
Okay, I know it is late, but better late than never, right--Happy New Year everyone! Time has really kept me from blogging lately. I have hit 2009 running. The kids at school received new MacBook laptops this week. This is a huge process where our tech team has had to prepare for each grade each day. This involves moving computers, cases, and cords to carts for deployment. It is also repossession time as well, meaning if students have not paid their insurance or damage fees they will not get their computer back. It really is a very big job and it seems we ended up keeping more computers than we handed out.
I have given much thought to my resolutions this year...yeah I know it's kind of corny to make them, but I do think it is good for people to set goals and I view resolutions as goals for myself and my family. I have selected 3 resolutions to focus on this year.
The first one is to get closer to God. This is the most important resolution. I try and read my devotional and my Bible before I go to sleep each night, but here lately, I have been falling asleep before I get through my devotional and I know that is bad. So I resolve to do better. I am also going to make an effort to be a part of a new ladies class at church. We are doing a book study called, "Having a Mary Spirit: Allowing God to Change Us From the Inside Out." I am looking forward to this class and getting together with the girls!
My next resolution that I have chosen to focus on is to exercise more this year. I rejoined Curves in May and I felt that I did a good job during the summer getting up to go and work out. When school started back, Curves kind of fell by the wayside except for maybe once a week (when I was lucky). Life and scheduling just kind of gets in the way and it is so easy to push Curves to the back burner. I do feel better when I go work out, so I will make an effort to get to Curves more often as well as walking in my neighborhood.
The final resolution that I want to work on is saving money. With the economy like it is, no one can afford not to make this a resolution. Since the summer, I have tried to become very astute in my shopping. I study the sales papers to get the best deals. I try not to buy anything without a coupon, because coupons are FREE MONEY! If I can buy in bulk and save money, I try to do that. We are in really good shape as far as toothpaste, dishwashing detergent, and washing detergent go since I have been able to get these things cheap when they are on sale by using coupons. I have learned that saving money takes time but I believe that in the long run it will be worth it. Rob and also will go and talk with a financial planner so that we will be set for the future.
So those are my resolutions for the year 2009. I will leave you with a fun picture of Seth that he calls his funny face picture. What are your resolutions for 2009? Have a great year!
